Halley V AWS

Only shortly after my first trip to service the Windy Bay automated weather station I took charge of the next outing, this time to the old Halley V site (Z5). Eager to do well in my new role and entrusted with the responsibility I had prepared everything the night before. Again the weather was perfect with clear skies and no wind. This time we had received training to drive the snocat, so we all took turns to practice. The same procedure was used on this weather station, but the snow was more solid around the tripod. Soon we were sweating in t-shirts digging up the base of it. This time we had no ocean view, but the frozen landscape surrounding us was good enough for us. With some great party tune blasting in the cabin we made our way back to base safe and sound.
