With the module move and relief the two winter cabooses were moved, one to the ice front at the relief site and one placed halfway on the road between the two station sites. As a weekend treat we went away on Sat evening after the usual sit down dinner forgoing the games that followed and swapping it for some peace and quiet and experience the solitude of the endless ice one last time.
On Sun morning we awoke to some rare sunshine and a calm breeze so that we could sit outside on the sledge and drink coffee. We could see the modules lined up at the new site in the distance and the odd skidoo went past, but otherwise the flat white expanse went on unbroken in all directions.
We enjoyed some manfood and a beer while contemplating the past year and the beauty of this unique place. It is with sadness that I leave it behind.
